Jeffrey Libshutz has 25 years of experience advising and investing in telecommunications and technology companies. He is currently Managing Partner of ArmaVir Partners LLC, a private equity firm which makes direct equity investments in small-to-mid-sized operating companies. As part of ArmaVir he co-founded Simple Broadband LLC, a telecommunications-focused investment company which is working to expand fiber optic network coverage to underserved regions across the United States.
Prior to ArmaVir, he was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager of the Private Investments Group at Ramius, the global alternative investment management business of Cowen Group, Inc., which he joined in 2005. Prior to joining Ramius, Mr. Libshutz was a Managing Director and co-Founder of LLJ Capital, a specialty finance firm focused on providing capital solutions to media and communications companies, and a co-Founder of Saturn Venture Partners, a venture capital fund formed in partnership with Telecom Italia and Ramius. Mr. Libshutz was also a Vice President at Sandler Capital Management and an investment banker with Lazard Frères and Salomon Brothers. Throughout his career he has served on a number of corporate and non-profit boards of directors, including currently serving as a board member of OpNet S.p.A. (formerly, Linkem S.p.A., the fifth largest broadband provider in Italy), All Points Broadband (a rural focused fiber broadband company based in Virginia), and Phoenix Tower Italy (one of the largest tower companies in Italy).
Mr. Libshutz has a BS in Engineering from Cornell and an MBA from Wharton. He is currently a member of the advisory council for the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University and a member of the advisory council for the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University.
